The Joinery, founded by sisters Natalie and Kim Ellis, together with their team of change makers, innovators, creators and activists, has built a formidable reputation for its ability to find  impactful solutions to environmental and community issues through design. It achieves that goal by creating luxury products made from recycled plastic bottles, turning potential waste into something positive. In response to the current Covid-19 pandemic and the changing world we now find ourselves in, these enterprising entrepreneurs have now launched their impactful Together Again essential care pack for their customers.

The new Together Again essential care pack is ideal for those who want to give their employees, customers, and guests that gift to show they care for their wellbeing. The message from founders Natalie and Kim Ellis, and their team, is “when your guests return, and we are all Together Again, we have got you covered with our sustainable essentials care pack, that makes a difference.” The new Together Again essential care pack consists of a luxury handmade multi-purpose pouch made by The Joinery from its innovative recycled plastic bottle Future Felt by women’s sewing co-operatives in South Africa. The pack also includes a Joinery Together mask and locally-made sustainable sanitizer.

The Joinery’s multi-purpose pouch is made using recycled plastic bottles. It has a zip closure.

Each customer’s bespoke branding will be on the front of the bag along with the optional words ‘Together’ or ‘Together Again”. The masks are double layer pleated masks with an opening for a filter. The masks come with an optional ‘Together’ print. Customers can choose between two different fabrics - Poly-cotton Fabric Masks or Hemp blended with recycled plastic bottle (rPET) Fabric Masks, each with a poly-cotton lining for added protection. Hemp fabric is hypo-allergenic and has natural antibacterial properties. The filter is 80% recycled plastic bottles, and is a dual layered non-woven supplying superior filtration and strength. It scored 4, being the highest score on the barrier efficiency test, which is a test conducted to measure the efficiency of textile fabrics and filter materials for use in cloth face masks to be used during COVID-19 pandemic. The sanitizers are selected from two luxury sustainable local brands in South Africa - Charlotte Rhys, a luxury brand with a conscience, and Africology, an ethical and cruelty free brand.

People + Planet have never been more important according to The Joinery team.

More about The Joinery

The Joinery’s intense concern for the issue of plastic waste and single use plastic landing up in our oceans and landfills fuelled entrepreneurial founding sisters, Kim and Natalie Ellis to find solutions to this pressing issue through sustainable textile innovation. They approached local fibre recyclers who helped them on their journey to conceptualizing a felt fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. All of the plastic bottles that go into The Joinery’s recycled fabric are collected from around South Africa. The Joinery is on HALF A MILLION plastic bottles saved from landfills and oceans to date, and the business is on a journey to reach ONE MILLION in the near future.

All of The Joinery’s products are made by local sewing co-operatives in the informal settlements of South Africa, by up-skilled artisans and by sustainable production houses, contributing directly to job creation. The seamstresses work with heart and soul to produce The Joinery’s high-end eco products. The Joinery is on a journey to ensure that all of its processes are as sustainable as possible from beginning to end, from its recycled fabrics, through to its  sustainable packaging, donating offcuts to NGOs and offsetting its carbon footprint. The Joinery is committed to  empowering people and the planet. Kim and Natalie Ellis invite everyone on their journey to create change, together.
