Correr Não é Chegar. Running is not reaching

March 31, 2019 Melanie Hawken

By Nereyda Ah Hoy, writer, author and founder of Indika platform and digital magazine

With the hectic and frantic life we lead, it is very easy to lose the sense of priority in life and literally get into autopilot mode. We often act mechanically, and we do not even realize how badly this influences us both personally and professionally. Below I share some little "truths" we have forgotten, over and over again. Keep this list in mind whenever you feel “lost.”

Being Busy Does Not Mean Being Productive

Look at the people around you. They all seem to be so busy - running from meeting to meeting, answering emails, engaging in interminable projects, etc. However, how many of them think they are actually being productive? Success does not necessarily come from frantic movement and activity. Success comes from "FOCUS" - ensuring that your time is being used efficiently and productively, aiming to achieve specific results. Remember, you have the same number of hours during the day as the whole world. Use these hours wisely. After all, you are the product of what is your focus on life. Make sure your efforts are dedicated to tasks that will really bring results.

Every Great Success is Preceded by a Great Failure

We will never experience true success until we have learned to embrace our failures. Our mistakes shape the way for us to succeed, for only they can tell us which paths we should not follow, as a result leading us to the right path. The greatest advances in one's life usually stem from those moments of great frustration and blockage, in which the person realizes that there are two choices to be made: either the person  changes his or her reality to something better or they live frustrated the rest of their life! Success implies patience and the ability to maintain a proactive attitude, even if it means sacrificing for some of the time.

FEAR is the Source of Failure

After everything that has happened has happened, you will, above all, regret more the chances you have not taken than the mistakes you have made. Do not be afraid to risk, but be aware of the results and face them firmly. At this point, when you are evaluating whether or not to risk, always ask yourself: "what is the worst thing that can happen to me if I take the risk? Am I OK with this or not? As long as you are alive, the worst thing that can happen is to allow yourself to die a little inside each day as a result of following a path that does not make you happy!

Your Sense of Personal Appreciation Must Come From Within

When your sense of pleasure, appreciation, and self-esteem derives from comparing yourself to others, you cease to be the Master of your Destiny! When you feel good about something you have done, do not allow someone else's opinion to destroy your inner contentment. After all, you more than anyone else should know what makes you happy and what is best for you. Listen to the opinions of loved ones, but do not let opinions dictate how you should live. It is difficult, almost impossible to simply "hang up" and not let yourself be "affected" by others' opinions at times. But let this never be a reason to compare yourself with others. Your sense of self-worth must come from within and the certainty that you do not need to be someone else, but yourself. Each one has his own way and each one's way is different from the way of the other, although it may lead to the same place. Let others go their way. Focus on your own path.

You are as good (or as bad) as those you associate with

You should always seek to join or associate with people who inspire you and people who make you want to be a better person. Anyone who makes you feel low, worthless, anxious, and unmotivated is making you waste time and energy, and worse, you will end up being like them if you let this happen. Get away from these people or try to interact as little as possible with them.

Life as a Passenger

The sense and awareness that life is fleeting must lead us to think about how we are living our life, the things we give priority to, how we use our time, and how we treat others. Remember, every morning of each day is a GIFT and we are responsible for doing the best we can to enjoy all the blessings that each day brings with it. From the moment you behave as if your life were a blessing, it will then become so. After all a good day starts with a good attitude and mindset.

You Do Not Have to Wait For An Apology to FORGIVE

The act of forgiving, more than an act of kindness, is an act that shows great INTELLIGENCE! Life becomes much lighter when we can let go of hurt and forgive even those who have never apologized to us for doing wrong in our space. More important than getting an apology from someone is getting rid of the burden of carrying a hurt! Hatred and heartache are real suckers of energy and can destroy your life. The negative feelings that come from keeping hurt inside create stress and illnesses that may be irreversible, such as cancer and hypertension. When you forgive someone, it does not undo the actions of those who hurt you, but it frees you from a great burden and allows you to continue to live in a light and happy way.

You Are Living Exactly the Life That Was Created by You

As hard as it is to accept, you are not a victim of circumstances! No one has the power to make you take decisions and have attitudes that go against your will and aspirations. The circumstances in which you find yourself living in the moment, were created by You! Which means that just as you have created these circumstances, you can also change them! If, for example, you feel stuck, it most likely must be because you are afraid to take a risk and follow a path that will lead to greater satisfaction. Act! It depends on you more than anyone else.

Live in the Present

You can never reach your full potential until you decide to live in the PRESENT!

Any guilty feeling you're feeding can never change the past. Any feeling of anxiety you are experiencing, can only compromise your future. You will never be happy if you live in the Past, or if you are afraid of the Future. Either way, your GIFT is what will determine your future. What do you intend to do with it?

Two Tips That Can Help You Live in the Present:

1. Accept that you can not change the Past and make amends with it

2. Accept that the future will always be uncertain, but that every action you take today influences the reality of tomorrow.

Change is Inevitable - Embrace it!

Only when you are able to embrace CHANGE can you live in peace with it. Either way, whether you want to or not, CHANGE is the most constant thing in Life.

You need to develop an open mind and open your arms to the changes and opportunities that will capitalize on your success in the future. Be happy!

MEDO é a fonte do Insucesso

A Vida é Passageira

Viva no Presente

A Mudança é inevitável – ABRACE-A!

Sejam felizes!
