Essential Read: 'Count Me In!: Connection, Collaboration and Community in Business Networking & Female Entrepreneurship' by Shari Reinhart

March 20, 2016 Melanie Hawken

Count Me In! is a great read for the wannabe, emerging, steady-on-her-feet female entrepreneur doing something to turn her dreams into reality. It is filled with practical advice and wisdom, with exercises to help readers to develop their networking skills, at the same time as developing their personal and social brands, their websites and their infomercials.

Shari Reinhart offers her practical ideas about how to approach independent work, organizing both office space and financial plans. The book is filled with stories of women who share their why, how and what in the world of entrepreneurship, and readers are likely to recognize themselves and their entrepreneurial journeys in many of them. This book is about belonging - it’s about female entrepreneurship and the sense of community that comes with belonging to a networking group. It is about having faith in yourself as a woman entrepreneur, about building the courage to act on big dreams and about harnessing the power of networking today. Deciding to become an entrepreneur is achoice that some people make after much angst and probably amid many naysayers. It’s a passport to the freedom and contribution people seek. For women who venture into it, this book is a soft place to land.

At a practical level, Shari Reinhart provides a newbie’s guide to networking, looks at how to leverage the feminine mystique in the entrepreneurial world, how to emerge as entrepreneur, how to make powerful connections, how to craft your social brand, creating a high impact website, how to trust your intuition in the world of entrepreneurship, and how to be outstanding in your field and therefore more competitive in the marketplace. She also provides a wealth of entreprneuerial stories, reflections and case studies that will connect with any aspiring woman entrepreneur. Ultimately, the title of the book says it all - it’s about belonging to a community of fellow women entrepreneurs and understanding that networking can open up a wealth of opportunities.

“This book is about belonging. It’s about female entrepreneurship and the sense of community that comes with belonging to a networking group. It is about having faith in yourself as a woman entrepreneur, about building courage to act on your big dreams, and about networking standards today.”

- Shari Reinhart
